4 houses, cattle-shed gutted in Mandi fire incident

POONCH, Mar 31: Four residential houses and a cattle-shed were completely gutted in a major fire incident in Gagrian area of Mandi in Poonch district today.
Reports said the fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in four houses and one cattle shed resulting into loss worth lakhs of rupees. Immediately after the incident, the Fire Services authorities at Mandi were informed and locals along with police tried to extinguish the fire but all houses being made up of wood were shortly engulfed in big flames.
The fire Tenders from Mandi reached the spot after about 45 minutes but the entire structures had already reduced into ashes.
The victims have projected the loss more than Rs 70 lakhs. All the household goods were burnt and about half a dozen cattle were also charred to death. They said that most probable reason of fire is electric short circuit but still it is being ascertained.
Mandi Administration provide assistance of Rs 10,000 to each family and Rs 4000 to cattle shed owner.
The fire victims were identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Habibullah Lone; Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Gulzar Ahmed; Ghulam Rasool, son of Abdul Ahad and Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Hameed, residents of Chool Morha in Gangrian Panchayat, in Sawjian.
Incharge Police Post Sawjian, SI Kartik Raina said that the Police team was on the spot to assist civilians to control fire. He said the police has registered a case in this connection and the cause of fire was being ascertained.
