Shabir seeks explanation of Asstt Drug Controller for not checking medical shops

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan today paid surprise visit to District Hospital, Kulgam and took stock of the functioning of the hospital. He went round each section of the hospital and interacted with the patients to enquire about the availability of medicare facilities in the hospital.
The Minister instructed the concerned Medical Superintendent for ensuring all possible health care facilities to the patients and urged for maintaining hygienic condition in and around the hospitals.
Mr. Shabir also inspected the construction work on 200 bedded District Hospital complex, Kulgam, coming up at a cost of Rs. 60 crore. He directed the concerned executing agency for ensuring its time bound completion. He was apprised that up to the end of last fiscal Rs. 31 crore have been expended on the construction of hospital complex whereas Rs. 2 crore are being incurred on the project during the current financial year..
He also inspected some medical shops near the vicinity of the hospital, checked medicines and sanitation facilities and directed medical shop runners that they should also use aprons while dealing with patients.
Mr. Shabir instructed Drug Controller to call an explanation Assistant Drug Controller, Kulgam for not properly checking medical shops and implementing rules and regulation as per the Drug Act.
Mission Director, J&K NRHM, Dr.Yash Pal Sharma, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur- Rahman and other concerned officers accompanied the Minister during the visit.
The Minister underscored the need for providing hassle free medicare facilities to the patients and stressed upon the administrative officers to bring complete transparency, accountability in working of each section of the health centers.
