CEC inaugurates ‘Community Museum’ at Sasoma

LEH, Apr 3: The Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson today inaugurated a ‘Community Museum’ at Sasoma village in Gya which was established by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in collaboration with National Museum Institute, New Delhi.
CEC Tashi Gyalson congratulated and appreciated the people of Gya for the Museum. He also appreciated the contribution of the people for creating a source of income for themselves and also preserving the heritage. He stated that the Museum will become a self-sustaining place and will also provide a boost to tourism. He suggested that the people must work on preserving the rich culture and heritage of Ladakh.
“The LAHDC Leh is working towards the preservation of art and culture of Ladakh in collaboration with the Cultural Academy,” he asserted.
EC Art/Culture, Stanzin Chosphel congratulated the people of Gya and NMI for the establishment of it. He said that LAHDC Leh will continue to extend full support to such initiatives in future.
Professor Dr Manvi Seth said that the Community Museum at Gya’s Sasoma village is the first of its kind in India. She thanked LAHDC Leh, Ama Tsogspa (Women’s Alliance of Ladakh) of Gya village and the people involved in it. “This Community Museum has been established with the international museum norms and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) is also being prepared regarding this,” she added.
Dy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, EC Agriculture, Leh, Stanzin Chosphel; Vice-Chancellor of Ladakh University, Surinder K. Mehta; Councillor Chushul Constituency and many other dignitaries were present during the event.
