UDHAMPUR, Apr 3: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) today discussed various issues being faced by the teaching fraternity and demanded their early resolution.
The issues were discussed during monthly meeting of JKTJAC held here today under the leadership of UT president Vinod Sharma and district president Lekh Raj Parihar. The meeting was attended by executive members from all the eleven zones of the district.
The speakers sought comprehensive transfer policy for teachers appointed under ReT scheme while alleging that they are serving in the same schools for last more than 20 years. They demanded favour of department in the Court for inclusion of 5 years ReT period for seniority benefits, DPC of teachers to masters, raising of Grade of teachers at par with their counterparts in other UTs, rationalization of teaching staff and removal of all non teaching assignments of the teachers.
While welcoming the step of the department for introduction of pre-primary section in the Government schools, they appealed the concerned authorities to make provision of MDM, free supply of books and uniform for these kids so that enrollment of KG classes get increased.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Sharma appealed the LG administration to make provision of old pension scheme for the employees of the UT appointed after 01-01-2010 while Lekh Raj Parihar raised the issue of release of Mid-day Meals funds and more than 2 years arrears of teachers of the district. They also urged the Chief Education Officer Udhampur to make provision of cooks in KGBV Basnote (Panchari) as teachers themselves are cooking MDM besides their teaching job.
