Another house burgled in Poonch, 3rd incident in 72 hrs

POONCH, Apr 4: Incidents of theft and burglary seem to be on the rise, giving the police and residents sleepless nights.
A yet another incident of theft in a house, at Mohalla Suthra Bawli, near T T School Poonch occurred on Monday during the day time.
The thieves broke into the house of Davinder Lal Kesar, a retired employee of Medical department at around 11 AM, when the family was busy in their work on the first floor. The thieves broke into their home and decamped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs.
In the past one week many theft incidents were reported from the different parts of Poonch town and adjoining areas. The police is unable to work out any case and trace the thieves.
The locals raised concern over the repeated incidents of the thefts in the city. They alleged that due to poor policing in the area such incidents are often happening. They said despite having CCTV footage police is clueless. It unfortunate that police has totally failed to perform its duty. It the property of the people is not safe during broad day light what cane be expected from police during night hours. There is no monitoring on the lower police staff by the seniors and there is need to totally overhaul the district police set up in Poonch, the locals demanded.
A local Government employee Upasana said if such a situation prevails in the town, how can they perform their duty in the offices during the day. She said that senior police officers should be held accountable for the present situation. The thieves mainly targeting the houses with employees or retired personnel, which remain unattended for few hours during the day.
