Zangtrai celebrated with enthusiasm, religious fervour

JAMMU, Apr 4: Zangtrai, the festival of Kashmiri Pandit community, falling on third Navreh was celebrated today with much enthusiasm and religious fervour.
On the occasion of Zangtrai a grand function was held at Bhagawaan Gopinathji Ashram, Udaiwala, Bohri.
Dr. Opendra Krishen Bhat introduced the chief guest, Sushma Bhat an ardent devotee of the Bhagawaan Ji. The programme started with offering of flowers at Bhagawaanji’s photograph in the Ashram followed by Guru-Vandana. The chief guest was presented a Shawl on this occasion. Hundreds of ladies participated in the function who paid obeisance at the lotus feet of the Master.
Artists of repute Ravi Bhan, Shanti Lal Sid, Master Pranav Pandita, Master Himanshu Pandita, Miss Lavanya Koul, Miss Shivani Bhat, Aarti Razdan, R.K. Saproo presented melodious devotional songs on this occasion.
Dr. Opendra Krishen Bhat conducted the proceedings of the programme. To continue the tradition the ladies were presented a token of love in the form of gifts.
The functions were also observed at the other Ashrams and Centres of the Trust.
A gala function was held at Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Ambphalla.
The function was presided over by president of the Sabha, K K Khosa. The function started with traditional Pooja of Mata Saraswati by the team of Sabha led by its president including well known poet Santosh Nadan. Dr Deepali Wattal and her team enthralled the gathering with Bhajans. In her welcome address Dr Sujata threw light on the religious significance of the function and exhorted the women of the community to rise against evils in the society.
President of the Sabha, K K Khosa wised the greater role of the women in transforming the community into a model society and stressed on preservation of culture and mother tongue especially its use by the younger generation in the family.
Santosh Nadan gave an elucidated description of Navratra especially significance of Navreh and Zangtrai.
Zangtrai was also celebrated at Hari Parbat Chakreshwar Srinagar after decades under the presidentship of president of Sanstha Randip Gurkha.
