JAMMU, Apr 4: The College Teachers today observed one day Pen Down strike against the arrest of one of their colleagues from Govt Degree College Kathua under section 306 of IPC for the unfortunate suicide of their students.
The protesting teachers assembled in their respective colleges and staged peaceful sit-in for seeking immediate release of their colleague.
Rakesh Jasrotia, President JKCTA-Jammu strongly resented the treatment meted out to their colleague who has been under detention for the last 14 days without any preliminary legal remedy of bail. He claimed that the teachers always want good of their students and never want to harm them in any way.

The protesting college teachers appealed to LG administration to provide for institutionalized safeguards for college teachers so that they can discharge their routine duties of teaching, attendance, evaluation, examination duties without any fear of implication. They also appealed for the immediate release of the college teacher for restoring the dignity and morale of the college teachers.
