JAMMU, Aug 25: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to amend SRO 64 to formulate comprehensive policy for the regularization of all daily wagers engaged in the various State Government Departments after March 1995.
Addressing a well attended NMC activists rally at Rani Park here today, NMC president, Subhash Shastri said that such an amendment in the SRO should be effected before September 1, so that the new regularization policy becomes operational from Gandhi Jayanti as gift to working class.
Alleging that most of the daily wage workers in various departments have not been getting their wages on regular basis for many years and their working conditions were dismal, Shastri urged the State Government to provide regular wages to them. He also asked for providing perks, allowances and pensionary benefits available to the Central Government employees to these daily wagers.
Stressing the need for immediate appointment of the chairman and other members of 7th Pay Commission, NMC president urged the Prime Minister to take decision in this regard at the next meeting of Union Cabinet.
He also urged to merge 50 % DA into basic pay and pension, sanction of 20% interim relief, and early release of 10% DA due from July last to both State and central Government employees and pensioners.
Shastri also demanded to enhance monthly emoluments of daily wagers to Rs 10,000 in view of sharp increase in inflation and price rise.
He also stressed for enhancing medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month, release of 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears and implementation of Central Labour Laws.
