Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Apr 7: In a petition filed by Joginder Singh, Bench Secretary of the High Court regarding dearth of staff at various levels—-High Court and District Courts, pay anomaly in respect of officers and staff and promotional avenues to Law Graduate Readers, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi has directed Registrar General to convene a meeting of the representatives of the staff and Government officials.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi for the petitioner whereas AAG Amit Gupta for the UT and Senior Advocate AV Gupta for the High Court, the DB observed that certain grievances of the staff of High Court have been raised in this writ petition including hike in salary and increase in the working strength. “The argument is that the Government is not taking any positive action in this direction”, the DB added.
AAG Amit Gupta informed the court that the respondents have held meetings and that probably the issue regarding sanctioning of higher working strength may be resolved within a period of six weeks.
Upon this, Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi submitted that if it is considered feasible, he may look into the matter as Amicus and may brief the court on the next date. In the meantime, it would be appropriate if the Registrar General convenes a meeting of the representatives of the staff and Government officials and it may be possible that all issues may be ironed up.
Accordingly, DB directed that the petition be listed on May 24, 2022 and Registrar General should convene the meeting which shall be attended by Sunil Sethi as well as Amit Gupta.
