JAMMU, Apr 7: Former Minister, Harsh Dev Singh today visited the Prime Minister office in New Delhi and filed a petition seeking personal indulgence of the PM so as to ensure early clearance of liabilities of poor labourers and farmers of J&K under MGNREGA and PMGSY.
“The work done claims of various Panchayats of J&K under MGNREGA had remained unpaid for the last 5-6 years resulting in untold hardships for the affected families. These liabilities amounting to several hundreds of crores and their non-clearance has adversely impacted upon the very survival of the poor people of rural areas who have rendered their services and incurred expenditure on execution of Panchayat level works,” former Minister said.
He further said that the J&K Govt has been dilly-dallying over the issue for the last few years resulting in massive resentment in the rural areas. It is further shocking to note unprecedented corruption prevalent in RDD J&K which has led to collapse of several Central Govt Schemes and other people oriented policies of the Union Government.
Harsh further stated that the poor farmers of J&K have been deprived of due compensation for the lands acquired from them for construction of rural roads under PMGSY. “Not only the lands were acquired but the residential houses, standing crops, orchards and other structures falling on the alignment of the said roads were also destroyed due to the construction of the said roads in Ghordi Block, Chenani Block, Latti Block, Seuna Block, Ramnagar Block, Dudu-Basantgarh Block of District Udhampur (J&K),” he said.
Singh appealed to the PM for ensuring time bound clearance of the pending claims of the poor labourers and farmers.
