Jubilant people said they were happy that they could take out the procession and could celebrate their festival with the zeal and zest even as they said that they have been living in Kashmir with sheer harmony and that even the Muslims participate in their religious events.

Dr Rakesh Mawa-who also participated in the procession taken out on the occasion-said that it depicts the rise of new Kashmir and India, where, he said. Muslims are celebrating Ram Navami with their Hindu brethren.
“We are going to have an Eid Milan program as well in which not only Muslims will participate, but there will be a presence of Hindus as well as Sikhs. We will make sure that a message of communal harmony is sent out,” he said.
A young devotee, who was marching along with the procession, singing bhajans, describing the stature and esteem of Lord Ram, talked about the importance of the day and said that they got a good response for the conduct of the event not only from Hindus but also from the people of the majority community.
“The occasion has arrived when the Muslims are observing Ramzan and are even celebrating the event with us, what else could be more beautiful,” he said.
