JAMMU, Apr 10: Dr Akshay Gupta (Professor and HoD, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu (IGGDCJ), delivered a lecture during CDE programme organized by Armed Forces Orthodontic Study Group (AFOSG) Delhi Cantonment in association with Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS).
The aim of the event was to forefront the Orthodontic practice trends, academics, challenges & initiatives and indomitable spirit of Orthodontic practitioners from the Jammu & Kashmir and North-East region of India. The endeavour was to provide national platform to the Orthodontists from these regions to highlight the evolution of Orthodontics in their respective regions amidst challenges of terrain and the long history of insurgency.
Dr Gupta was invited as guest speaker from Jammu province and he delivered lecture on the topic “Indian Orthodontics Far and Beyond Precincts – Voice of Jammu region” wherein he highlighted the initiatives taken for creating the awareness of orthodontics among local population of Jammu region and knowledge and awareness of benefits of Orthodontic treatment among general population and also the trends of practice followed by local orthodontists in the region.
The event was attended by Specialists of Orthodontic fraternity and Post Graduate students from India and across the globe. This program was hosted by Army Dental Centre Research and Referral, New Delhi in virtual mode. The event was equally divided into two parts, morning session dedicated to Orthodontic practice trends in J&K and post lunch session devoted to seven sister states of North East. Each session was followed by interactive session between the speakers from respective region.
Dr Akshay Gupta, Col Mohit Sharma and Lt Col Karan Nehra from Udhampur were among speakers from Jammu province.
