Youth dies, family protests against no proper packing of body after autopsy

JAMMU, Apr 10: A youth died under mysterious circumstances in Mehmoodpur area of tehsil Bishnah. However, the family members held protest against no proper packing of the body after autopsy.
As per police sources, a youth identified as Gulshan Kumar, son of Darshan Lal, a resident of Mehmoodpur died under mysterious circumstances.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
However, on seeing the blood stains on the coffin of the deceased, his family along with relatives started stating protest against no proper packing of the body after post-mortem.
The protestors also blocked the road and demanded strict action against the officials, who conducted the post-mortem and have failed to pack the body properly.
On getting information, SHO Bishnah Inspector Vinod Kundal rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors.
Later, Tehsildar Bishnah along with BMO and SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh also reached the spot.
“We received the body of our kin in a blood stained coffin, which clearly indicates that the body was not packed properly. We demand action against the officials, who conducted the post-mortem and have failed to pack the body properly”, the protestors said and also demanded compensation.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) assured the protestors of conducting an enquiry into the whole matter. “Whosoever will be found guilty, strict action will be taken against them”, BMO assured. For compensation, the Tehsildar has requested the Red Cross Society.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed from the spot.
Meanwhile, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Bishnah Police to ascertain the cause of the death.
