SRINAGAR, Apr 12: Scores of RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan) subject-specific teachers protested here today, demanding that they be allowed to continue working under the scheme.
These teachers gathered at Partap Park, Press Enclave here and raised slogans in support of their demands. They said that they are not demanding any permanent jobs, but the Government should re-hire them in the scheme as they have been working under it for several years.
“Teachers’ services should be continued until the scheme is fully implemented,” Ishrat Mushtaq, a teacher, said, adding that the Government should implement the court order in their favour.
They claimed they were accepted into the scheme after passing a thorough screening and meeting the requirements. “We are all post-graduates in the subject area and also hold a B.Ed.  We have been successfully giving training to both teachers and students,” a teacher said.
Referring to the Government’s attitude toward these highly qualified teachers, they said: “If the Government can’t provide them jobs, they should not take them away,” a  protesting teacher said, adding that the majority of them have crossed their age limit and cannot apply for other jobs.
They appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to look into the matter and save their future.
