RDD holds meeting with Industrial Associations of Kathua

KATHUA, Apr 12: The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj J&K today organised a meeting with the representatives and members of the Industrial Association of Kathua, which was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav here at DC Office Complex.
The meeting was organised to assess the skill requirement of the corporate sector so that the candidates enrolled under the ambitious HIMAYAT programme can be trained in the market relevant trades.
The Deputy Commissioner said the scheme like Himayat offers great opportunity for the youngsters to learn market driven skills and fulfill the needs of the local industries. He appreciated the initiative of Chief Operating Officer HIMAYAT for reaching out to the stakeholders of Industries to get valuable feedback on skill requirements so to capacitate youngsters with required skills accordingly.
While interacting with the participants , the Chief Operating Officer Himayat, Ms Deepika K Sharma stated that the meet shall provide an important platform to ascertain the requirements of the workforce of the industry, enabling the department to draft training modules accordingly so that the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) can train the candidates in the relevant trades which have demand in the market.
She further added that the corporate sector has immense potential to provide job placement to the unemployed youth who are equipped with market-relevant trades under the programme.
The Chief Operating Officer, gave a detailed Power Point presentation regarding the skill development, achievements of the scheme and other parameters covered under the scheme.
She informed that so far in District 3833 candidates have been enrolled out of which 3296 have been trained and 1417 have been placed besides training of 281 candidates is going on.
HIMAYAT is a special initiative under DDU-GKY for unemployed youths (both urban & rural) of UT of J&K. It aims to provide jobs in the private sector to the unemployed youth of J&K by equipping them with market-relevant skills.
Besides the officers and officials of different line departments the meeting was attended by General Manager DIC kathua Prem Singh, SPM Himayat Kewal Krishan Sharma, Functional Manager DIC Kathua Sandeep Sharma, President Industrial Association Kathua Davinder Verma, President Industrial Association Hiranagar Raj kumar Sharma along with many prominent industrialists from the District.
