SRINAGAR, Apr 12: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti was today placed under house arrest.
Mehbooba was set to meet with the family of a Kashmiri Pandit named Bal Krishnan at Chotigam in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Krishnan suffered injuries in a recent militant attack.
A security bunker vehicle was seen standing outside her Fairview Gupkar residence not letting her step out of the house. “Placed under house arrest today because I wanted to visit the family of the Kashmiri Pandit attacked in Shopian. GoI willfully spreads fake propaganda about the Kashmiri mainstream and Muslims responsible for Pandit exodus and doesn’t want this fake divisive narrative to be exposed. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out who will benefit politically by deepening mistrust & sowing seeds of division & hatred,” Mufti tweeted.
Bal Krishnan was shot at outside his home in Chotigam Harmain area of Shopian on April 4. He suffered at least three gunshot wounds in his leg and arm. The militants fled the scene shortly after spraying bullets.
Bal Krishnan was rushed to the hospital with the help of locals. His condition is reported to be stable as of now. Three Kashmiri Pandit families live in Chotigam Harmain where the incident took place.
