40 bovines rescued, 6 held

JAMMU, Aug 27: Nagrota Police today rescued 29 bovine animals and arrested four smugglers.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Police Station Nagrota laid a Naka at Bantalab and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AC-9811.
During checking, police recovered 18 bovine animals which were being transported illegally from Jammu to Srinagar, he said, adding that the driver fled from the spot.
A case under FIR number 265/13 under Section 188 RPC, 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Nagrota police also stopped another vehicle bearing registration number JK14C-0388 on the same naka point and recovered 4 bovine animals. The driver of the vehicle namely Mohammad Rafi, son of Saraj Din and Mohd Saleem, son of Mohammad Mussa, both residents of Chanderkote were arrested.
A case under FIR number 268/13 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Nagrota police also recovered 7 bovine animals from two pedestrian namely Layqat Ali, son of Bannia Meen, resident of Akhnoor and Farooq, son of Ghulam of Khari Bishnah. Both the smugglers were arrested, he added.
A case under FIR number 270/13 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Police party led by SHO Parvez Sajjad made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary.
Meanwhile, in a smiliar incident Police seized 11 bovine animals along with two vehicles and arrested two persons in this connection on Mughal Road in Bafliaz area today.
A police spokesman said that a police naka party of  Balfliaz police post, under the direct supervision of SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain intercepted two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration Nos. JK-11/4324  and JK-11/9656   near Bafliaz on Mughal Road and seized 11 bovine animals being illegally transported to Kashmir valley.  The police seized both the vehicles and arrested two persons in this connection. They were identified as  Zafar Farid, son of Nazir Hussain of Ward No. 6,  Rajouri and Abdul Kabir, son of Kabir Hussain, resident of  Behrote in Thanna Mandi. A case FIR No. 125/2013 was registered against them at Surankote Thana.
