JAMMU, Apr 15: Deputy chief spokesperson, National Conference (NC) and former MLA, Dr. Gagan Bhagat criticised the present regime under BJP for highest ever Inflation and unemployment as these are one of the major problems in Jammu & Kashmir faced by the people today.
In a statement issued here, today he said it should be a major concern for the BJP Government. Quoting the data of “Periodic Labour Force Survey” (PLFS) published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme GOI, the unemployment rate in J&K has reached 46.3%, highest ever in the history and J&K stood at number two in the country. The joblessness in the 15-29 age group is highest among the women which stand at 67.3%, that of men at 39.1%. The situation of the people who were already suffering from terrorism and poverty for the past four decades has worsened after the undemocratic abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 by the BJP Government and the pandemic made it even worst, he added.
He said the situation of educated youth is miserable as they are sitting idle with no recruitments in the Government or private sector for the last four years. The claims made by the BJP Government are hollow and this PLFS data justifies the statements of NC leadership that situation of people especially youths is becoming miserable under the present regime Dr. Bhagat said. The institutions like JKPSC, JKSSB are just delaying the recruitment process of already advertised posts four years ago. The present governments indifference towards artisans, tourist industry, farmers, small traders and manufacturers have further choked the employability in the private sector, he added.
He said it is on record that during the NC regime in J&K under Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah the private sector got the boost and unemployment was tackled to some extent. But the present regime has completely turned its back towards the private sector regarding the local recruitments. All the projects by the Union or UT Governments are bagged by the companies based outside the J&K, and this is the reason that they have their own manpower from outside the UT.
