SAMBA, Apr 15: Owners of tippers and tractor-trolleys protested against the Mining Department for overcharging royalty near the village Dhora of Samba. Kehli Mandi Panchayat, Sarpanch and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Ravinder Singh Lavlu was leading the protest.
Taking a dig at the District Officer of the Mining Department, he said “For the past several days, the contractors of royalty were charging more money than the rate fixed by the district administration and these people did not give us any receipt for that, due to which we were very upset and are lodging the protest”.
The Sarpanch said “Even before this, we had told the district administration about it and the trend stopped for some days., Now they have again started fleecing the people, due to which the local people are facing a lot of trouble”. He warned that if this happens again, then the agitation will be launched.
