‘Existing reservation policy has turned irrelevant’

JAMMU, Apr 16: General Category People’s Front (GCPF) held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Front chairman. Speaking in the meeting Front members deliberated upon the socio-economic and political policies of the government.
Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, Front president alleged that general category people have been facing persistent neglect and deprivation due facilitation of illegal continuation of caste based discrimination, restricting the application of basic fundamental rights of majority. He demanded total review of the existing reservation policy which has been turned irrelevant as it is too old to continue.
“The socio-economic and political atmosphere of the country has changed and today nation demands Equality Act to ensure Equal Rights and Equal Laws for all citizens, irrespective of their caste and religion,” he maintained stressing upon the government to make Prime Minister’s “Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas” slogan a reality by ending all the existing discriminations, special concessions, quotas etc.
Som Nath Sharma, Front general secretary demanded scrapping of all contradictory rules and provisions of reservations, which undermined the principles of equality, justice, liberty and dignity.
V.K Sharma, vice president; Deepak Khajuria, Dr. Bansi Lal Sharma, Bhushan Pargal, S.K Sharma and Gopal Dass Verma also expressed their views.
