Sukhnandan takes Irrigation, RDD to task for not cleaning Irrigation canals

JAMMU, Apr 17: The former Minister and senior BJP leader, Ch Sukhnandan today visited various areas of Phalain Mandal in Marh Assembly Segment to ascertain the problems being faced by farmers there.
he also held meeting with the local people. The farmers apprised the BJP leader about the problems being faced by them due to non availability of irrigation facilities. The farmers informed him that the tributaries of Ranbir canal have not been cleaned and they are also facing shortage of machines to reap the wheat crop.
The BJP leader assured them that all their problems will be got addressed as he will take up them with concerned authorities.
Taking a dig at Irrigation Department authorities, Ch Sukhnandan said that every time farmers have to pay for the wrongs of the Department. He said the Department makes tall claims of cleaning the canals but nothing is being done on ground.
He said at some places the Rural Development Department (RDD) had taken the responsibility of cleaning the canals but they too failed to discharge their responsibility due to which farmers are totally disappointed.
He appealed the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to issues directives to both Irrigation and Rural Development Departments to take desilting of the canals in rural area in hand at an earliest. He also demanded that the harvesting machines for wheat be immediately arranged and wheat procurement centers in rural areas be also opened at an earliest for the betterment of the farmers.
Ch Sukhnandan appealed the people including, BJP activists Sarpanches and Panches to attend the April 24 rally of PM Narendra Modi in large numbers.
Sarpanch, Balbir Singh , Kuldeep Singh, Tarsem Sharma, Sonu Choudhary, Panch Angrez Singh, Nambardar Naresh Dingra, Shamsher Singh and large number of farmers were present during the meeting.
