PM Package employees lodge protest, submit memorandum

BARAMULLA, Apr 18: PM package employees of Baramulla district took out a procession up to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, today and lodged their strong protest by submitting a memorandum questioning about their safety and security which has become a matter of concern for them  particularly after the recent “threat letter” which reached to their colony by post.
The package employees working in different departments gathered near the office of the concerned Deputy Commissioner and brought their prime  issue into the domain of the immediate officer in charge of the district for instant redressal and investigation.
Expressing their serious concern about security of package employees working across Kashmir, the aggrieved employees told the administration that security remains a major concern for the employees both at their living and working places which needs an overall look and review to safeguard  interest of employees.
“There is a need to build confidence among employees at this moment which has dropped in wake of recent developments,” said one of the protesting employees, adding that the package employees were very much perturbed and fear stricken and with the result it becomes necessary for them to communicate to Government about their concern. “It is responsibility and duty of the Government to ensure safety of minority employees working in Valley and we believe that the administration will take all steps in this direction,” said another employee.
An employee living at the rented accommodation said that they were always feeling insecure and now being much worried about  their safety after recent attacks on members of a particular community.
Later, the employees delegation met with the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district and submitted a memorandum which mentioned demands of the employees including their transfers  from far flung areas to district headquarter, review of their security on periodic basis , Government accommodation to employees living at rented accommodations and an appointment of Nodal Officer not less than the rank of  JKAS who will look into matter of employees on daily basis.
