KATHUA, Aug 28: Panchs and Sarpanchs today blocked the Jammu –Pathankot National Highway at Dayala Chak in protest against what they alleged harassment of Panchs and Sarpanchs by the police.
The irate Panchs and Sarpanchs blocked the National Highway for one hour and warned to intensify the agitation in case the police do not give up its attitude towards the Panchs and Sarpanchs who are the public representatives.
They alleged that Panchs and Sarpanchs are implicated in false cases and police was acting partially which will not be tolerated by them. They accused the police of not taking any action against the corrupt officials of Rural Development Department (RDD) and alleged that the funds given under 12th Finance Commission for various water supply schemes were misused by RDD and were not utilized properly. They said though inquiry was conducted the report was not submitted till date.
