JAMMU, Apr 19: National Secular Forum (NSF) has reiterated its demand for Satellite Duggar Channel in Doordarshan Jammu to cater the requirements of Artists of Jammu region.
In a press conference here today, Dr. Sukhdev Singh president NSF said that Doordarshan Jammu has been reduced to the level of a relay station with no provision for recording programmes of artists.
“Till the year 2014, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu was getting Rs. 3.50 crore annual budget for programmes but now the financial allocation of this TV Centre has gone from bad to worse making the position of Artists miserable directly hitting the promotion and development of Dogri culture and language,” he said.
Dr. Singh said that Kashmir region has been given its own Satellite Kashir Channel besides an independent Doordarshan Kendra since long exclusively meant to promote Kashmiri art, culture and language but no similar facility of Duggar Satellite Channel by Prasar Bharti has been provided in Jammu division to help promote artists here and project Dogra culture through the medium of independent Duggar Satellite TV Channel in Jammu.
He claimed that Satellite Duggar Channel in Jammu division will also help counter the sinister propaganda of neighbouring country.
Dr. Singh also demanded independent Station Director at Doordarshan Kendra Jammu as there is no officer of that level to redress the grievances of Artists fraternity in Jammu.
