DHSK inaugurates Block Health Mela at Batamaloo

Srinagar, Apr 19: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today inaugurated Block Health Mela at UPHC Batamaloo, Zone Batamaloo which was attended by officers and officials of the health department.
The Health Melas are being held concerning the Union Ministry of health and Family Welfare which has adopted a strategy of organizing Health Melas to provide health education, and early diagnosis besides providing health care services, free of cost.
Addressing a gathering, the director said while inaugurating the Mela, said that it is important to organize such health programs. “Melas not only connect to the general public but make them aware of the beneficial schemes of the health department,” he said.
The director said awareness is very essential for the people and through these camps people get to know about the facilities and also about hidden diseases which they are not aware. He said screening helps in the long run in the early identification of different diseases.
Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, Jameel Ahmad Mir, Dy. Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, District Health Officer Srinagar, District Tuberculosis Officer, District Immunization Officer Srinagar, Zonal Medical Officer Batamaloo, Nodal Officer H&W Centres, Nodal Officer RCH along with other concerned dignitaries were present on the occasion.
During the Mela, Consultation and Diagnostic services were provided to more than 10.000 people. Screening of children was performed by the RBSK teams and some cases of 4Ds were detected which were referred to the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) at JLNM Hospital for further follow-up.
