RAMBAN, Apr 19: Jawahar Tunnel Police arrested woman-daughter duo with 26 kilograms poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel laid a naka and intercepted a woman and her daughter.
During checking, police team recovered 26 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Manjit Kaur, wife of Shinda, a resident of Punjab and her daughter Jaspreet Kaur.
Worthwhile to mention here that on further enquiry, it came to fore that the said ladies were running a syndicate and were involved in recruiting ladies to transport narcotic substance from Jammu & Kashmir to Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 83/2022 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered against the arrested ladies at Police Station Banihal and investigation has been set into motion.
Police team led by Incharge Jawahar Tunnel Police Post PSI Harish Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Nayeem-ul-Haq, SDPO Banihal Nissar Ahmed Khoja and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
