JAMMU, Aug 29: A meeting of Block Congress Committee was held under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and senior Congress leader.
While highlighting the various problems being faced by the people of the border belt, Mr Charak stressed upon the authorities to immediately provide relief to those affected by the heavy rain.
He appealed the concerned authorities to expedite the process of assessment of losses occurred and the same be disbursed to the affected families at the earliest. He also demanded that some temporary shelters be provided immediately to the affected families.
Mr Charak disclosed that he had already taken up the case for construction of full fledge bridge on Dhamala vented causeway with the concerned authorities and assured that he would pursue the same till it is constructed. He also appealed the concerned authorities to immediately take up the work of this bridge, which is strategically of great importance as it will link border belt of Trewa, Jabowal, Pindi Kudwal, Chengia etc with the Arnia town and rest of Bishnah.
On the occasion, a committee for Arnia town was also announced with Balwant Saini as president, Suraj Parkash, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Karan Saini, Dheru Ram as vice-presidents, Nand Lal (general secretary), Madan Lal Sharma and Raj Saini (secretary), Jang Bahadur Saini, Yash Pal Saini (organizing secretary), Chajju Ram Saini, Prithvi Raj, Girdhari Lal (Ghara), Romesh Saini, Bishan Dass Saini, Barkat Shah, Dr Jamit Raj, Krishan Lal Bhagat, Prabh Dayal, Krishan Lal, Capt Madan Lal Bhagat, Swarn Lal and Bachan Lal as members.
