Impressive Shoba Yatra taken out at Mattan, Samba

ANANTNAG, Aug 29: An impressive Shoba Yatra and Krishan Jula was taken out in holy township of Mattan (Martand) 8 kilometres from here on the eve of Krishna Janamashtami today.
The Shoba Yatra was organized by Tirath Raj Mattan Trust led by M K Yogi. A large number of devotees participated in the Shoba Yatra comprising of over a dozen jhankis depicting different aspects of Lord Krishna’s life.
A Bhajan Kirtan was held by Shanti Lal Sidh a renowned Bhajan singer. It was followed by religious congregation in the temple premises where religious discourses were given by various scholars who highlighted the significance of Janamashtami and teachings of Lord Krishna by making refrences to Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta.
The devotees were served prashad later.
The district administration had made elaborate security and other arrangements in the township for Shoba Yatra and Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, ADC Anantnag and other police and civil officers were themselves accompanying the Shoba Yatra. The local Muslims of the area also greeted the Shoba Yatra and offered sweets and fruits to the yatris enroute. The Shoba Yatra which started from holy Sun temple Mattan after passing through Lokatyar, Chaka Nadi, Saryan, Bhima Bhagwati, Chinar Bagh and other localities of the township it culminated in temple premises.
The Committee members Ashok K Mussa, Baskar Nath Bhawani, R L Tickoo and B L Khar also participated in the Shoba yatra.
A Mahayagya was performed at Nagbal Anantnag on the occasion of Janam Ashtami under the supervision of Roshan Lal Sharma. A large number of devotees attended the function and took the prashad. Bhajan Kirtan was also performed and religious discourses held.
In connection with Janamashtami celebrations an impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out by Narsingh Mandir Paloura Mandi Committee Samba Talab in a traditional way today. The Committee is taking out the Shoba Yatra since 1947. DC Samba, R K Verma also participated in the Shoba Yatra.
