JAMMU, Apr 23: Expressing serious concern over the growing polarization between the two main communities, former Sadar-e-Riyasat and scion of the erstwhile Royal Dogra family, Dr Karan Singh has stressed that any issue should not be allowed to assume formidable dimensions.
“Any outstanding problem, such as Hijab, Azan, Halal and loudspeakers must be sorted out peacefully between the two communities,” he said in a statement, issued here today.
Reminding the havoc this polarization caused decades ago resulting into trifurcation of India, Dr Karan Singh said that under no circumstances can we afford polarization to grow once again, as that can only bring death and destruction in its wake.
“Provocative speeches, mostly from fringe elements on both sides only add to the atmosphere of confrontation and should be avoided,” he stressed.
As Chairman of the Temple of Understanding India Foundation- an organization dedicated to promoting inter-religious harmony, and on his own behalf, Dr Karan Singh appealed to all concerned to step back for a moment and reorient their activities in a non-confrontational manner.
