SRINAGAR, Apr 25: The residents of the Nai Sadak area of Habba Kadal today staged a protest against the PHE Department for failing to provide them with adequate water supply despite Ramadan.
Scores of women from the locality came out and blocked the main road as a form of protest which led to a massive traffic jam in the area.
“For the last one month, we are not getting an adequate water supply. We have been given assurances multiple times by the authorities, but nothing has been done in this regard,” the protesting women said.
They said that the issue has been brought to the notice of the higher-ups in the department, but no avail. “We are facing immense issues and with Ramadan the usage of water increases, but we do not have a drop of water,” they said.
The residents appealed to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar and other concerned officials of the concerned department to look into the matter and redress their genuine demand at the earliest.
