UDHAMPUR, Apr 25: Locals of village Dhamnote and adjoining areas held a strong protest against unauthorized absence of teaching staff at Government Higher Secondary School Dhamnote, today.
The protesting villagers, led by Sarpanch Dhamnote, raised slogans against the School Education Department for its non-serious attitude towards the attendance of teaching staff, which mostly remains un-authorizedly absent from duty.
Out of 22 Masters and Lecturers, only four were present in the school when locals reached the spot and found the students sitting here and there with no class work going on.
Students of the school also alleged that most of the teachers remain absent and come occasionally while the Principal had visited the school only once on the day of joining her duties. She never came to school since then, they added.
The protesting villagers demanded stern action against the erring school staff and Principal. They appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take cognizance of the matter and ensure regular attendance of the teaching staff for studies of their wards.
When contacted, CEO Udhampur Arvind Koul said that he was out of station and would look into the matter for necessary action.
