Anuradha Puram, Patoli residents concern over increasing power cuts

JAMMU, Apr 25: The residents of Anuradha Puram, Barnai, Sarswati Vihar and Sharda Colony Patoli Brahmana have expressed grave concern over increasing power cuts in the area saying that despite installation of smart meters, the authorities have failed to ensure round the clock power supply with the result the people’s miseries have increased in this scorching heat.
In a statement issued here, today president of Anuradhapuram Welfare Committee, Ram Singh, Mohan Lal koul president Saraswati Vihar Welfare Committee and B L Raina general secretary Sharda Colony Residents Welfare Association, they said that electricity is playing hide and seek for last over one week and out of 24 hours in a day the power supply is hardly provided for five to six hours with the result the inverters are also not getting properly charged and people are sweating in the hot Summer. They said the power crisis have also hampered the water supply with the result people have been forced to purchase portable water.
The Sharda Colony residents said that the Overhead Tank constructed in the area has not been made operational as it needed minor work to be done but the same is delayed for reasons best known to authorities concerned.
The residents of these colonies have appealed Lt Governor, Divisional Commissioner and concerned chief engineers of PDD and PHE to look into the problem and take effective steps in tiding over the power as well as water crisis failing which the people will be forced to come to streets. They said when people are facing such crisis at the start of Summer the problem will aggravate when mercury increases in May and June months. It will further aggravate in Monsoon.
