KATHUA, Apr 27: Congress staged protest demonstration against BJP led Central Government for constant hike in fuel prices and unscheduled power curtailment.
The protest was organised under the leadership of senior Congress leader and former MLC Subash Gupta which started from Ram Leela Chowk and culminated at SDM Office Hiranagar, here today.
Subash Gupta while addressing the protestors said that the Government has started increasing prices of petrol, diesel, and even the domestic gas cylinder just after the polls in five States which lead to inflation among other daily commodities. The Government should reduce fuel prices to give relief to people, Gupta said.
Gupta further said it was becoming tough for common people to survive amid such inflation. “The constant increase in fuel and natural gas prices broke the backbone of the public. Rates of petrol and diesel are being hiked everyday which have a cascade effect on other essential commodities as well,” he asserted.
The protestors demanded that the Government should control the prices of the essential commodity by reducing the hike in petrol, diesel and natural gas and stopped the unscheduled power curtailment which made the life of commoners a hell. They also supported the demands of daily wagers regarding their regularisation as soon as possible.
Prominent persons who were part of the protest demonstration including Yugal Kishore Bali, Morari Lal, Anant Ram Dogra, Harbhajan Singh Saini, Master Des Raj, Master Sat Pal Sharma, Dr Rajinder Singh, Narinder Rathore, Narinder Pal Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Karan Kumar and many others.
