Night long prayers across Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 28: The Shab-e-Qadr on Lailat-ul-Qadr is being observed with religious fervor and reverence tonight.
The biggest congregational prayer is being held at Dargah Hazratbal where authorities have made special arrangements and also issued an elaborate traffic plan to ensure smooth passage to the vehicular movement.
Muslims traditionally observe the occasion through nightlong special prayers, Quran Khwani, religious discussions at Masjids and in their houses.
The Holy Quran revelation to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) started from this night. The night has special significance as it is better than one thousand years and the angels descend therein.
This is one of the holiest and most blessed nights, which is likely to occur on one of the odd nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th of the Holy month.
Special arrangements have been made for special prayers in Masjids and the shrines across the Valley to mark the holy night and seek divine blessings.
The religious clerics will highlight the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
However, authorities have not allowed Shab-e-Qadr and Jumatul Vida prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid due to security reasons.
An official said that the decision to disallow prayers has been taken as there was threat to peace in the area.
