REASI, Apr 29: The devastating fire that broke out in the forest belt of Marhi area, near Jyotipuram Colony and Bidda of Reasi district resulting in the destruction of trees and other forest material, today engulfed a house at Ponsli Salal.
Reports said that Kachha house of Jagan Nath, son of Beli was gutted in forest fire. Even as the family members managed to escape, a cow was charred to death while all household items were also gutted in the fire. Some locals rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
As already reports, the forest fire broke out yesterday and spread to several acres of land in the compartment number 34 &35 by last evening and it was spreading very fast towards residential areas in Jyotipuram and Bidda.
Meanwhile, reports from Udhampur said that a massive fire broke out in forest area from Katwal to Madha Khargal in Chenani this morning causing huge damage to the green gold. The fire was brought under control by this evening after hectic efforts by the fire Services Chenani.
