Charak takes up railway related issues with Chairman PSC

JAMMU, Aug 31: Due to the acute shortage of staff, there are only 3 to 4 ticket reservation counters functioning at Jammu Railway Station and needs 10 to 12 counters to cater the needs of the rising number of tourists and pilgrims.
This was stated by Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, member, Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) during a press conference here today. Charak was accompanied by Gurman Singh, Member, DRUCC.
Charak further stated that there are only four general ticket counters, whereas at least 6 to 8 counters are required to cater to the inflow of the users.
He added that the during the recent rains, sheds at the platform of Jammu Railway Station were leaking, which have added woes to the tourists vis-à-vis pilgrims and demanded immediate repair of the same. Charak also demanded additional platforms at Jammu Railway Station.
He demanded replacement of DMU with EMU and its composition should be increased for 6 boogies to 12 boogies, change of timing of Udhampur-Jammu DMU in view of the timing of the Government offices and corrective measures to check the dumping of garbage near Udhampur railway line.
“We had taken all these aforesaid issues with the Chairman, Passenger Services Committee (PSC), who assured that all the issues will be redressed at the earliest”, Charak informed.
