Apni Party demands land compensation at par with market value

JAMMU, May 5: Apni Party here today staged a protest demonstration against NHAI for taking over possession of the land from the people at Raya Morh in district Samba with lowest price.
Led by provincial president Jammu, Manjit Singh, Apni Party leaders and workers raised slogans against NHAI for not providing enough compensation to the people whose land is being taken over for highway construction and widening.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said that NHAI has offered very less amount to the people whose land has come under the highway and people are allegedly being forced to take the compensation for the land.
“The compensation must be at par with market value. Forcing people to accept the compensation as per the wishes of NHAI will not be tolerated,” he said adding that people will come on the roads if NHAI did not review its policy.
“The people should be given an appropriate price of the land which has value in crores,” he maintained.
He said that the land has commercial value and the people who run their business have to abandon it and hence, NHAI should consider the poor financial condition of the people.
District president Samba, Raman Thappa; additional general secretary (organization), Arun Chibber; president Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi and others were also present in the protest.
