JAMMU, May 5: Following Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s nod, Government of Jammu and Kashmir today ordered apportionment of 1083 more employees to Union Territory of Ladakh.
Presently working in various Government departments in Jammu and Kashmir, these employees shall be immediately relieved by the concerned Administrative departments.
According to an order in this regard, these employees are from Agriculture Department (57), Animal/Sheep Husbandry (1), Election (2), Finance (9), Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (16), Forest, Ecology & environment (23), Health & Medical Education (82), Higher Education (122), Horticulture (23), Housing and Urban Development (1), Industries and Commerce (23), Jal Shakti (9), Labour & Employment (1), Power Development (24), Public Work -R&B (64), Revenue (400), Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (117), School Education (11), Skill Development (1), Social Welfare (37), Tourism and Libraries (10) and Transport (15).
“In exercise of the powers under Section 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to apportion these 1083 employees to Union Territory of Ladakh,” read the order, issued today by General Administration Department of J&K Government.
Earlier, cases of 1075 employees were found in order for consideration to their apportionment to Union Territory of Ladakh following joint verification conducted by the officials of two UTs. However, some representations were received in the GAD, J&K Government, from employees seeking apportionment to UT of Ladakh. After consultation with the concerned Administrative Departments, the cases of eight more employees of Public Works (01) and Higher Education (7) were found in order for their consideration for the apportionment.
It may be recalled that vide Government order number 1212-JK (GAD) of 2021, dated 15-11-2021, 11189 employees serving on substantive basis were apportioned to Union Territory of Ladakh on the basis of options exercised by them, in terms of Section 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Re-organization Act, 2019.
The apportionment of manpower between the two Union Territories was necessitated following re-organization of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State into UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh in 2019.
