Protest at Draj, road blocked

RAJOURI, Sept 1: The people from Draj and adjoining areas held protest and blocked Rajouri-Budhal road for about three hours today.
These people were demanding arrest of a BJP leader Dev Raj allegedly behind the forced suicide of young Vikramjit Singh, son of late Chaman Lal at Draj last month. The villagers led by local Congress leader Jagat Ram and others Satpal and Bal Krishan, relatives of the deceased Vikramjit also alleged that Chaman Lal a tipper driver and his son were killed in accident about six months and that tipper belonged to Dev Raj. He was the man behind the manipulated accident. The villagers blocked the road for about three hours and disrupted movement of traffic.
Later, SHO Budhal and SHO Kotranka reached the spot and assured that they will lodge an FIR in this connection. The road was then cleared. Chaman Lal alleged that he had gone to the house of Late Chaman Lal as his son Ranjit Singh had called him. He alleged that when he was taking tea, some people led by Jagat Ram allegedly attacked and they snatched the gun of his PSO Ashok Kumar. Both were beaten up by the villagers and they hid themselves in the maize fields. The police rescued them and also recovered the gun. The Police has started investigation.
