PALANI, Sept 2: Six persons were arrested here today in connection with theft of “Hair bundles” (offering given by devotees) to the Lord worth Rs 70 lakh from the Lord Muruga temple here, police said.
They said 1,253 bundles of hair were found missing during auditing of the godown, where hair is sorted according to quality and stored in bundles, following which four temple workers were suspended.
Tonsured locks of women are sold for a higher price price.
The six persons have been remanded to judicial custody. (PTI)
