JAMMU, May 10: Prof Akbar Masood, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, today released compendium of achievements made by BGSBU during last one year.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akbar said that BGSBU, despite its relatively young age in terms of its establishment, has been making significant strides in the field of academics, infrastructural developments and other extra-curricular activities so much so that it has reckoned its presence as one of the premier institutions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Akbar said that during the last one year, BGSBU has unleashed several bold and transformational reforms that have bolstered its efforts to become a centre of excellence in teaching and research.
The VC said that during the last one year, the University has initiated significant academic and administrative reforms in line with National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 to promote the goals of equity, access and excellence. New infrastructure projects have been approved which will add new facilities, augment the existing ones and will give tremendous boost in making BGSBU as a favored destination for high quality academic attainments, he added .
“During the last one year, the university has got 21 Extramural Projects worth Rs 5.27crores which is a significant achievement by any University of BGSBU magnitude,” he said.
Prof Akbar further said that one of the most significant reforms undertaken by the University during the last one year has been the up to 50 per cent fee reduction in most of the academic programmes offered by the University. Further, aiming at increasing the enrolment of girl students in higher education, the University decided a 50 percent waiver of tuition fee for top two rank holder girl students based on the admission merit list in all Postgraduate programmes offered by the University from forthcoming academic session.
Prof Akbar said that BGSB University, over the years, has emerged as popular academic destination for the students of J&K and created its own distinctive niche for academic pursuits in this hinterland. After achieving many milestones in recent years, it now looks forward to sustained future development to occupy the coveted position amongst the national Institutions in general and those of J&K Institutions in particular, he added.
