JAMMU, May 10: Son of the soil Kuldeep Singh Jamwal (ex-Deputy Director General, Geological Survey of India) was conferred with prestigious “Professor W D West Memorial Oration Award-2021” by Vice Chancellor of Dr Hari Singh Gour Kendriya Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (MP), Professor Janak Dulari Ahi.
The award was presented to Jamwal recently on the occasion of 119th birth anniversary of W D West as the award ceremony could not be organized last year due to severe epidemic of Corona disease. The award is given to every year to an illustrious alumnus who has brought laurels to the Department of Applied Geology and has served as a conscientious bearer of the ‘Hallmark’ of the University.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the academic excellence of Jamwal in the field of Engineering Geology at national and international level and further added that this will inspire generations of geoscientists.
Later, Jamwal delivered a lecture on tunneling in Himalayas and role of Engineering Geology in the construction of major civil structures such as dams and tunnels in India and abroad.
