SAMBA, Sept 2: The villagers of Khatan Mandal in Purmandal area today protested in front of DC Office, Samba against the proposed move to set up a garbage/ waste management disposal plant in the village.
The protest was led by Gautam Singh, Sarpanch. The protestors said that thousands of pilgrims visit the holy shrines of Purmandal and Utterbeni and construction of garbage/waste management plant for disposal of garbage of Jammu city there would add to pollution in the area. They demanded the same be shifted to a secluded area keeping in view the religious sanctity of two shrines.
