Employees call for 3 day strike

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Joint Consultative Committee of various employees’ unions today called for three day strike to press for implementation of the agreement reached out between employees’ leaders and the Government.
In a statement, a spokesman of the amalgam said: “JCC is forced to announce its third phase of agitation as the Government is neglecting their demands despite repeated protests.
The spokesman said all the Government employees will protest on September 9 in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh and Ladakh.
“The employees from Kashmir Division will assemble in Sher-i-Kashmir Park, Srinagar, to take a peaceful march towards Civil Secretariat under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani. On the same day the employees from Jammu Division will protest under the leadership of Gafoor Dar,” the spokesman said.
The employees of the Civil Secretariat will protest under the leadership of JCC Convenor Rouf Ahmad Bhat within the Secretariat premises.
He said that all the Government, semi-government offices, including Secretariat employees, will hold a complete lockout strike on September 10, and 11.
The employees have been demanding extension of retirement age from 58 to 60, regularization of daily wagers, removal of pay anomalies in the clerical cadre, besides budgetary support for public sector undertakings among others.
