Tourism Dept fines 2 top hotels in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 12: The officers from Tourism Department conducted checks at various hotels in Srinagar and fined the top 2 hotels for overpricing.
During the checking, officials said that the officers slapped a fine on the hotel Taj Vivanta and Lalit Grand Palace for exorbitant rates and other service deficiencies.
“The hotels have also been issued notices that action under relevant clauses of J&K Registration of Tourist Trade Act and other legal action would follow for the violations if course corrections are not done,” officials said.
The team of officers included Deputy Directors, Registration and Kashmir, Assistant Directors, Headquarters and Recreation, Assistant Director, Enforcement and other officials.
The inspection has come after the complaints by tourists and locals regarding overcharging and other service deficiencies. The officials said that the drive is set to intensify in the coming days.
In this regard, the Tourism Department has directed all the service providers to adhere to regulations or face action in case of any violation.
