KATHUA, May 12: The women residing in Barnoti held protest against the opening of wine shop in the most of populated busy area on Barnoti-Budhi road.
A large number of women accompanied by local residents held protest and block the road against the opening of wine shop in residential and populated area.
The women including Bimla Kumari, Geeta Devi, Anita and Seema Devi alleged that the Government is deliberately indulging the youth in drugs addiction by opening the wine shops in populated areas.
“It is difficult for women, young girls and school students to pass from the front of the wine shops as people in drunken condition pass indecent comments on them”, they said.
They added that the Government is violating rules and regulations by opening the wine shops in populated areas and near religious places.
“Open the wine shops in the isolated areas of the Government want to collect the revenue”, they said and warned the Government to stop illegal exercise, otherwise the people will comes on the road and will protest in aggressive manner.
