RAMBAN May 14: Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today visited district Ramban and inspected various health institutions in Banihal, Ramsoo and Ramban to take stock of healthcare facilities extended to the people.
During his visit, the Principal Secretary interacted with the medical staff of SDH Banihal, PHC Ramsoo & District Hospital Ramban and also obtained instant feedback from the patients and attendants there.
During his three-legged tour, the Health Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, ACR, Dhirendra Sharma, SDM Banihal & Ramsoo, CMO, Dr. M Fareed Bhat, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr Mehboob Khan, besides other senior officers of the Health & Medical Education Department.
While taking firsthand appraisal of the available healthcare infrastructure, the Principal Secretary issued directions to the Deputy Commissioner to immediately project the District’s requirement in terms of manpower reinforcement and additional machinery equipment so that round-the-clock medical facilities are provided to the people.
Laying emphasis on Government’s resolve to prioritize healthcare infrastructure in the UT in view of the recent Covid pandemic, the Principal Secretary advised the doctors and paramedic staff to work with zeal and commitment to extend best possible medical services to the people in a district which is hilly with hostile terrain.
The Principal Secretary advised the doctors not to play truant from duties and avoid unnecessary referrals which shall invite disciplinary action. He also asked the CMO, BMOs and the Medical Superintendent to improve the capacity building of its technical staff so that frequency of lab facilities like CT Scans, Ultrasounds, Dialysis and X-ray are further enhanced.
Stressing upon zero tolerance policy in negligence of duties, the Health Secretary advised MS DH Ramban and BMOs to paste daily duty rosters on the Notice Boards for information of general public and social media groups along with contact numbers so that the medical staff is made accountable and available all the time in the health institutions.
