37 bovines seized in Poonch, Rajouri

JAMMU, May 16: The police foiled several attempts to smuggle bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road and rescued 37 cattle during overnight operation in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Official sources said that Poonch Police rescued 28 animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers while foiling smuggling bids in Surankote area. The police parties headed by DySP Surankote Tanveer Jeelani and SHO Insp Niaz Ahmed accompanied by SI Sushant Singh and Rohit Manmar during naka at Mirza Morh Surankote, Bafliaz, Behramgalla and Panar areas during checking apprehended five bovine smugglers and seized 5 Tata Mobile vehicles bearing Reg. Nos. JK12A /9172, JK16A /2799, JK11F/ 3798, JK11F / 5743 and JK12B/ 9656 which were on way towards Kashmir.
Five FIRs 118, 119, 120, 121 & 122 of 2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Surankote and further investigation started.
Meanwhile, Thannamandi police intercepted three Tata Mobiles bearing registration No. JK18 – 3027 , JK11E/ 6900 and JK11F / 4198 loaded with 9 bovine animals on way towards Kashmir via Mughal Road without any permission.
In this regards case FIR No 71/2022, 72/2022 and 73/2022 U/S 188 IPC 11 PCA Act got registered. The vehicles were seized and bovine animals rescued.
The arrested accused were identified as Azmat Khan, son of Mohd Hafiz from Kunderdhan Reasi, Bajeer Hussain, son of Ali Mohd from Arabal in Kulgam and Ghulam Hussain, son of Jamal Din hailing from Hamshipura in Shopian.
