FCS&CA Deptt fines several shops; seals 4

SRINAGAR, May 18: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) has fined several shops in the city for the violation of norms, while one Goldsmith shop and three bakery shops have also been sealed during the market checking drive.
In this regard, the Enforcement squad of the FCS&CA under the leadership of Assistant Director Enforcement Mushtaq Ahmad Wani conducted a market checking drive of various areas of Srinagar City such as Safa Kadal, Khona Khann, Chattabal, Qamarwari, SMHS hospital, Karan Nagar, H.S.H Street, Lal Chowk, Lal Mandi Rajbagh.
“During market checking 61 business establishments were inspected & a penal sum of 12100 has been collected as fine from 8 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955,” the officials said.
They said, besides, one Goldsmith shop at H.S.H Street has been sealed for violating the nouns of hallmark standard, besides, non-availability of requisite license.
“Moreover, three renowned Bakery/Cafe shops stand also sealed for overcharging; the erring lot has been reprimanded and were directed to remain careful in future,” the officials said.
