JAMMU, May 19: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa today inaugurated a camp for free distribution of Aids & Assistive devices among the identified Divyangjans (PwDs) under CSR initiative of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
During a simple but impressive function, the Deputy Commissioner distributed 59 Aids and Assistive Devices of different category valuing worth of Rs. 25 Lakh among 58 pre-identified beneficiaries of Jammu.
The identification and registration of divyangjan beneficiaries was done in the month of February 2022 by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in association with District Administration Jammu.
The distribution camp was organized by ALIMCO from Mohali (Punjab) Unit, working under the aegis of Department of Empowerment of Person with Disability (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India in association with District administration.
The Aids and appliances distributed included 47 Motorized Tricycles, 3 Joystick Wheel Chairs, 3 Wheel Chairs, 2 Walking Sticks and 6 Hearing Aids.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated ALIMCO and the Social Welfare Department for facilitating the specially-abled persons under different schemes. She also urged the people to come forward and take benefit of the social welfare and other schemes launched by the UT and Central Government for their upliftment.

DSWO Ajay Salan, other senior officials from District Administration Jammu including ALIMCO and District Social Welfare Department were also present during the occasion.
